Ques.  In one fortnight of a given month, there was there was rainfall of 10cm in a river valley. If the area of the valley is 97280km2, show that the total rainfall was approximately equivalent to the addition to the normal water of three rivers each 1072km long, 75m wide and 3m deep.         ( NCERT  Ex. 13.5  Q.No.4.)
                                                                                                                             (Ajaydeep Singh)

Solution Volume of water falling in valley in one fortnight 97280 * 1000 * 1000 * 0.1 = 9728000000 m3
Volume of water falling in valley in one day = 9728000000/15 =648533333 m3

                      Volume of water being added to one river in a day = 1072 * 1000 * 75 * 3 = 241200000 m3
Number of rivers required to use the water of valley = 648533333/241200000 = 2.7 ≈ 3 rivers.
