How to improve concentration?
1. Decide a regular place of study. Don't change your study place frequently.
2. The study room and study table should be tidy and free from distractions. There should not be too much of noise around you. Switch off your mobiles or set their ringer off.
3. Keep your books, copies and other stationery assembled with you. You should not get up again and again for picking up things.
4. If there are too much visible distractions around, you can use a lamp to focus on your books.
5. Set a specific goal or target for yourself to be completed within a particular and achievable time span.
6. Don't feel like concentrating. Just try to involve yourself in the work you are doing.
7. Don't overstretch your concentrating periods. Give yourself short breaks after a convenient time.
8. When you notice your thoughts wandering, say to yourself STOP and then gently bring your attention back to where you want it to be. Each time it wanders bring it back.
9. Try to develop your own learning style. Some may learn by jotting down important points, others learn by reading and then asking themselves questions, some others learn discussing with friends. Find your own style and work accordingly.
10. If you want to memorise or learn big answers, break it in short parts. Write the theme of the short parts and first try to memorise the theme and then the details of each part.
11. Avoid distractions. If any distraction like a sudden loud sound occurs, try to ignore it calmly. Don't react to it. Just ignore it and retain your attention.
12. Certain factors like daydreaming, anxiety may always distract your attention. Try to conquer your thoughts. Don't force them to move out. Just ignore them and remind yourself of your goal. The thoughts will vanish on their own.
13. When you study, try to keep your worries aside. Don't think of examinations approaching or difficult papers or problems. Just be in present. Think what you are doing and Is that leading you towards your goal?
14. Have regular sleep and take regular healthy diet. Don't overeat or oversleep. At the same time don't keep yourself hungry or sleepless. Take plenty of water, juices and protein rich diet. Avoid excessive fats.
15. Try to increase your work time everyday- 5 minutes, 10 minutes to a suitable limit. Don't overstretch.
